Formed in London in 1964, The Who is considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century. Roger Daltrey(lead vocalist), Pete Townshend(guitarist and vocals), John Entwistle(bassist), and Keith Moon(drummer) created the group that would eventually sell over 100 million records worldwide. The band developed from an earlier group called the Detours and established themselves as a part of the pop art and mod movement. Moon led the auto-destructive art on stage by destroying his drums on stage while Townshend would slam his guitar into the stage. As The Who released successful single after successful single, as well as the album Tommy, and appeared live at Woodstock and the Isle of Wight Festival, their reputation was cemented in history.
